You Can Now Fly From Leeds Bradford Airport To Cornwall In Just One Hour

Just when summer was looking pretty shitty, Leeds Bradford Airport has given us a grain of hope to hang on to. Launching a brand new route following the closure of Flybe, Eastern Airways has announced it will be operating a regular flight schedule from Leeds to Newquay – one of the UK’s most popular holiday destinations.

The brand new route provides an alternative holiday option for Yorkshire families, as international travel from the UK continues to be prohibited as the pandemic continues. Not only that, but the route will significantly cut down travel times for Cornwall tourists too, with the drive from Yorkshire taking anywhere between 5.5 and 7 hours – depending on which part of the region you’re coming from.

The service will operate flights from Monday-Friday and the first flight lifts off on Thursday 9 July – just weeks from now.

Commenting on the new route, Pete Downes, Managing Director, Cornwall Airport Newquay, said: “We’re delighted that Eastern Airways will be launching a further new service between Cornwall Airport Newquay and Leeds-Bradford this summer.

“Given the long distance and journey time of existing transport modes, improving air connectivity between Cornwall and the North of England is vitally important in supporting the recovery of our visitor economy and wider business community, not just as lockdown restrictions begin to ease, but over the long term. We look forward to working with Eastern to make the route a success for the region.”

As COVID-19 restrictions begin to ease around local travel, many airlines are beginning to gradually re-introduce flights, with routes between Leeds and Southampton now also resumed.

Flights can be booked now and hotels can be found here.
