This Yorkshire Town Has Been Named One Of Summer’s Most Booked Destinations

Staycations are absolutely booming this summer already, as many people rush to book the closest retreat for a break from lockdown. And can we blame ’em? It’s been a pretty long road to this point – and if there’s one thing I certainly want to do this summer, it’s unwind some place far from home.

Revealing exactly where Brits want to spend their time this summer, Airbnb has released the top ten locations that have seen a spike in bookings since the Coronavirus restrictions were lifted – and some of them might surprise you… Especially the fact that Lancashire has taken the top spot… We know, blasphemy to God’s Own Country.

Each location offers something quiet and idyllic, proving we really are in need of a bit of peace and quiet after being couped up for so long. Without further ado, here’s the full list of the most popular destinations (according to Airbnb booking data):

  1. Warton, Lancashire
  2. Duns, Scotland
  3. Snettisham, Norfolk
  4. Glastonbury, Somerset
  5. Rothbury, Northumberland
  6. Chapel Saint Leonards, Lincolnshire
  7. Ross on Wye, Herefordshire
  8. Leiston, Suffolk
  9. Pickering, Yorkshire
  10. Guildford, Surrey

An Airbnb spokesperson has said of the data: “In the last week we’ve seen a significant spike in demand as travel becomes a reality again, with our trending destinations showing people are keen to explore the many interesting towns and rural areas the nation has to offer, providing a welcome boost to local businesses,”

Pickering led the way for Yorkshire destinations, presumably due to the historic town being ideally located on the edge of the North York Moors, with Thornton-le-Dale, Flamingo Land, Scarborough and York all just a short distance away. Here’s some of the best Airbnb’s Pickering has on offer right now – click the titles to check them out.
