A public ride out is set to take place from London to Barrow-In-Furness in remembrance of Dave Myers of The Hairy Bikers, who sadly passed away earlier this year. It’ll be led by close friend and co star Si King and will see thousands of bikers from across the country participating.
The ride out will trek over 300 miles across the country from North London to Dave’s hometown of Barrow-In-Furness, in Cumbria. The TV chef’s death shook the nation with many chefs and fans of the show sharing their condolences across social media.
The amount of messages gives a brief glimpse into the warmth felt towards Dave who was known for being one half of The Hairy Bikers, two friends who travelled the world on their motorbikes tasting and cooking dishes around the world.
With that in mind, there couldn’t be a more fitting tribute. The ride out is set to take place on Saturday 8th June, 2024 and will finish at Barrow Raiders Rugby Club where there will be a festival of Dave with performances, food stalls and activities. The event is called ‘I’m Having A Dave Day!” and is raising money for two The Institute for Cancer Research, London and Childline.
Last month, bikers rode our in Beverley in memory of Dave Myers. Si King posted a thank you to via Hairy Bikers social media channels Si King saying: “I hope the ride out goes well for you all. Many many thanks for remembering Dave in this way. He would have loved it. Dave’s family, friends and I are really touched. Love to you all, be safe.”
