New journeys for the Flying Scotsman have been announced for September and October, including trips from York to Scarborough.
A programme led by promoter Fox and Edwards Events will see the 1923-built locomotive return to the mainline, alongside successful partnerships with 22 heritage railways. The programme is being delivered in collaboration with Northern Steam, which cares for the vintage locomotive, Vintage Trains, a leading operator of mainline steam tours, and the National Railway Museum, which is custodian of the iconic Flying Scotsman.
As part of the programme, the world’s most famous steam locomotive is heading back to Yorkshire. Other nearby journeys include trips from Derby to York and Chesterfield to York, as well as special runs from Yorkshire to Scarborough and Newcastle.
First-class and traditional seating options are being offered, with tickets starting at £99 for a return trip.
