The outdoors… What’s that? After a year of lockdown, spending time outdoors is somewhat of a novel idea. So this news of Helmsley Open-Air Pool seems very welcome. Yes, heated! Not that us Yorkshire folk need it to be heated.

The open-air pool offers fantastic views over the North York Moors and is one of four heated open-air pools left in Yorkshire. The others are Alpamare Waterpark in North Yorkshire, Ilkley Pool and Lido in West Yorkshire and Hull’s lido is currently undergoing a revamp, so will be re-open soon also.

We are expecting a massive 16-day heatwave in June, which Helmsley Open-Air Pool sounds perfect for! We will be donning our Speedos and heading down to enjoy those amazing views, that’s for sure. It sounds like the perfect place to visit for a staycation in Yorkshire this summer.
The pool opened over 50 years ago and was recently refurbished. The pool temp is a wonderful 28 degrees, so you’ll be nice and warm! Perfect for kids and big kids alike, we imagine it will be hugely popular.

The town of Helmsley is the perfect place to pop to afterwards and enjoy some food & drink afterwards. We are all looking for funs things to do this summer and we think this is one everyone should add to their summer bucket list.
It’s due to open next month on the 21st June, and are using an online booking system. It will be open from 11am – 7pm, as well as being available for private hire.
If you’d like to see how to book or learn more about their fantastic pool you can find out more by visiting their website here.
