Last month, Leeds German Christmas Market that usually takes place at Millenium Square, was cancelled by the council due to “ongoing uncertainty around the pandemic.” The council have now confirmed that there will be a huge ice rink, igloo bar and pop-up market stalls and more coming to the city centre from Friday 19th November. Leeds Christmas 2021, looks like it might just be saved.

The council have planned a different type of Christmas celebration in the city centre, which is sure to please residents and tourists. They’ve partnered with Visit Leeds, and plan to offer the ‘biggest and most eagerly anticipated Christmas to date‘.
The Christmas fun is based around the favourites of previous years and will see Millenium Square once again transformed into a winter wonderland with an ice rink, Igloo bar, and pop-up markets.

There will also be a festive winter trail around the city centre for families, as well as the ever-popular Thor’s Tipi, where you can enjoy some mulled wine around the fire pit at Victoria Gardens as well as a tipi on Briggate with festive refreshments and a bring your own food policy.
Deputy Leader of Leeds City Council and Executive Member for Economy, Culture and Education, Cllr Jonathan Pryor commented: “After a diluted festive season in 2020, we are delighted that we can deliver more activities and events to Leeds this Christmas.
“Leeds’ Winter Favourites will ensure that everyone who visits the city this holiday season will leave with a festive feeling that is bound to last right through to the new year.”
