“Tha’s nowt posh about Yorkshire” I hear you say, but you’re wrong. And, a The Telegraph’s list of Britain’s 54 poshest villages proves it with four Yorkshire villages making its list. It named the poshest villages in each of Yorkshire’s four counties – and included the average house prices so we can have a nosey how the other half live
They were a range of factors to choose the winning villages and this included high house prices, connectivity, lifestyle amenities and chocolate-box appeal.
Kirkby Overblow, North Yorkshire
Found in the Harrogate district of North Yorkshire, it is situated between Wetherby and Harrogate and boasts an average house price of a whopping £698,656. Named as the poshest village its ‘posh appeal’ included huge family homes, good pubs and its proximity to other villages.
Ed Stoyle of Savills told The Telegraph the big family houses pushed up the average house price in Kirkby Overblow. “It has all the things that define a village, such as good pubs,” he said, recommending the Shoulder of Mutton… It has a school and a quiet road that just leads to more villages,” he added.
Scarcroft, West Yorkshire
Over to West Yorkshire the on the outskirts of Leeds city is Scarcroft, which is also not too far from Wetherby. The village’s average house price is £630,325. The poshest village in West Yorkshire is known for its horseracing, with Hellwood Stables and the riding centre at Scarcroft Hall
Finally, the research also said that Scarcroft’s has a good primary school, golf club, and pub – the Inn at Scarcroft, which dates back to 1852. These all help it ranks highly in regards to ‘posh appeal’.
Sutton Upon Derwent, East Riding of Yorkshire

Cawthorne, South Yorkshire
