This Chalet-Style Home By The Yorkshire Dales Is The Perfect Getaway For Friends

If there’s one thing that’s become a brand new hobby now that “lockdown” is over (of sorts), it’s frantically googling nice places to stay for a much-needed break. And if there’s one place that’s really caught our eye here at The Yorkshireman, it’s the New York Public Library.

Hidden away on the outskirts of Richmond, this huge chalet-like home boasts four bedrooms, with 15 acres of its very own park and woodland providing well-deserved peace and quiet. But it’s the beautiful architecture that strikes us the most – with cosy wooden details giving the home the appearance of a relaxing retreat.

Both indoors and outdoors you’ll find ample social seating, with a number of dining tables throughout providing both a cosy meal in the open-plan kitchen and living area, and a scenic alfresco space for dinner with a view. Additionally, guests can take advantage of the balcony sun terrace (with views of the neighbouring sheep!), comfy outdoor sofas and even a decking area kitted out with a wood-burning pizza oven.

Built and designed by its owner, the property aims to offer up ‘peace and inspiration’ – triggering the name the New York Public Library. Walls are lined with incredible pieces of art by acclaimed artist Damien Hirst, while the rest of the home pays homage to its surroundings with cottage-inspired decor.

It’s the perfect place to wind down thanks to its outdoor hot tub, alfresco pizza oven and table football (perfectly placed to take in the views outside), and there’s even spa treatments available to book for those who want to take the relaxation to the next level. A massage to the sound of the sheep baa-ing away? Sounds like bliss to me.

Naturally, being as beautiful as it is, the property is regularly booked up – but you can snap it up in with an advance booking over at Coolstays here.
