Ever wanted to stumble into one of those cosy alpine ski resorts that so often provide the backdrop to the classic Hallmark movies? While ski resorts and the UK don’t exactly go hand in hand, there is one place in the UK where you can get into the ski resort spirit.
Sitting on the edge of the Peak District, The Heights of Abraham is a stunning hilltop park comprising 60 acres—reached in the most unique way: via a moonlit cable car ride up to a winter wonderland, just like at the ski slopes. And at Christmastime in particular, it really comes to life.

Illuminated by colourful lights for the winter season, the Heights of Abraham offers a stunning, unique light trail for families to enjoy.
There, guests will uncover endless photo opportunities, starting with a gondola ride and a moonlight journey across the river and up to the park in the cable car. From there, the light trail winds through enchanted woodlands, with plenty of awe-inspiring lights and installations to admire.

In addition to the fantastic light trail, guests can also enjoy food, drink and toasted marshmallows at the cafe, alongside shops, and even an exhibition showcasing tons of interesting Christmas traditions.
Aptly named ‘The Lights of Abraham’, the event runs daily from 21st November to 30th December (excluding Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day), from 4.30pm-9pm.

Throughout the rest of the year, the Heights of Abraham is home to its very own caverns dating back 300 million years, alongside other historical points of interest such as the lead mine shaft, a bar and restaurant with amazing views from the hill top, ancient woodland, picnic spots and much, much more.
