It looks like Amanda Owen, The Yorkshire Shepherdess, is set to feature in a new Channel 4 show, and we couldn’t be more excited. Along with Clive and their nine kids, Amanda shot to fame with Our Yorkshire Farm, which followed the family in their day-to-day life on Ravenseat Farm in the Yorkshire Dales.
Amanda featured on More4 last year in the six-part show Amanda Owen’s Farming Lives, which highlighted farmers across the UK doing something different in the community. It was also a fantastic success, and it seems Amanda has more on the horizon, to which we say a huge hurray!
It’s reported that a source told The Sun newspaper’s TV Biz column: “Channel 4 bosses very much saw the series as a test run of Amanda in a new setting, and the response from audiences was good. So they want to push ahead and make more shows with her as soon as possible, including a show which they are about to announce.
“It will still link to her origins on Our Yorkshire Farm, as it will tap into the region where she was born and spent most of her life. It very much marks the next stage of her evolution on TV and is a reflection of how she’s become a star in her own right.”
Reuben is leading the way for the family on Channel 5 in his show Reuben Owen: Life in the Dales, which has been a triumph for the channel, showcasing the classic Dales backdrop with the oldest Owen male demonstrating that same roll-up-your-sleeves grit that made Our Yorkshire Farm such a success.
It was hinted that film crews were back filming in the Dales with Reuben, which quelled any suggestions that the show had been shelved by the channel.
We look forward to hearing more news from any of the Owen family, showcasing dealing with trials and tribulations in life in a positive light.
