The chippy is great for having the choice of the large restaurant or your classic takeaway next door. Serving up highly rated top quality fish & chips with generous portions and deliciously crispy batter. Another favourite in Filey, The Brown Room, sits across the road from The Buccaneer and is a legend of Union Street. One TripAdvisor review in particular says, “London has the Savoy, Singapore has Raffles, but Filey has the Brown Room.” And, if that’s not high praise enough, I don’t know what is.

CJ’s Fish and Chips is located on Murray St, the main street in Filey and is located on the corner. Standing out from the rest with a sailor-themed indoor dining area and takeaway available, CJ’s is loved by locals and tourists alike for its generous portions. One review for the Filey fish & chip shop praises them for serving “massive fish” with a smile. The small, but comforting restaurant has acquired great reviews from visitors, especially about the “hugely generous portions and a crazy good price!”.

4. Dicky Bees Fish and Chips – Fish & Chips In Filey
Dicky Bees, Filey’s oldest fish & chip shop having been established in 1932, can be found in the centre of Filey, serving up some of the finest, traditional fish & chips the seaside town has to offer. The current owners are currently celebrating a year of running the chippy with a whole host of history. We love a chippy that still has one of those old fashioned signs, so it has won our hearts with that alone. It’s one to add to the list for sure.
