Luxury hotel and spa resort Rudding Park has announced that an exciting new restaurant is opening on the estate, and we’re not gonna lie, it’s one of the most exciting dining concepts to land in Yorkshire yet.
Opening this May 16th, the new restaurant – named FIFTY TWO – is spearheaded by Head Chef Adam Degg, previously Head Chef of the estate’s Michelin-recommended restaurant, Horto.
So, what makes this restaurant so special? Well… Sheer mystery, is what. Taking cues from Mother Nature, the new restaurant will focus on ever-changing dishes using ingredients cultivated in the kitchen garden right behind the restaurant, or selected from trusted local producers.
As part of the experience, guests will get the chance to peruse the gardens for themselves while enjoying a drink, before wandering through the photogenic espalier hornbeam hedge which links the gardens to the restaurant.
When you do get seated, however, you’ll be non-the-wiser as to what’s on offer. Yep. You read that right. In true dinner party style, FIFTY TWO will not have a menu, and guests will have to put their full faith in the team – a great way to try something new. And without the commitment of a set menu, the team is free to experiment with exactly what produce is on offer right on their doorstep.
The intimate restaurant will seat just 20 around an open kitchen, and will offer so much more than your typical restaurant. The team will have aprons on hand for those keen to get involved, alongside a pack of cards to spark ‘the art of conversation’. You’ll even be able to play the ‘dessert island disc’ game, where you’ll get the chance to pick a song for the FIFTY TWO playlist. No hiding in the background here.
Head Chef Adam Degg said: “We have been developing the concept for some time and want guests to feel as though they are at a relaxed dinner party at home with great food and drink, great company and great conversation.”
Aiding the mystery, Rudding Park is yet to reveal what the restaurant will look like, but one thing’s for sure, they’re definitely keeping us on our toes.

Friday and Saturday sittings consist of 10 sittings and 5 drinks pairings for £115pp/£50pp for drinks pairings, and Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday sittings will consist of 6 servings with 3 drinks pairings for £85pp/£35pp for drinks pairings.
