When looking for the best things to do in Yorkshire, one of our absolute favourite pastimes is sitting in a pub with proper beer, delicious food, a friendly atmosphere, and great company. What a perfect way to while away the day! So, if you are planning a trip this autumn to one of the many beautiful places our region has to offer and are looking for accommodation, you should consider staying at one of the many wonderful Yorkshire Dales pubs.
Many pubs in the region offer luxury accommodation that provides everything you need for a comfortable night. To help you plan your next trip, we have put together a list of six of our favourite Yorkshire Dales pubs with rooms. Our first stop is the remote village of Reeth.
1. Tan Hill Inn, Reeth

It is arguably one of the most famous Yorkshire Dales pubs. Built in the 17th century and located near Reeth, North Yorkshire, it holds the record as the UK’s highest public house at 1,732ft above sea level. Its picturesque and dramatic setting makes it a must-visit place for hikers, cyclists, road-trippers, and anyone who loves good food and an ale.
It hit national news in 2021, when approximately 60 people, including an Oasis tribute band called ‘Noasis’, spent three days trapped in the pub due to a heavy snowstorm. (Beer and great tunes sound like the perfect lock-in to us!). It is also a spot visited by a number of famous faces, including Clive Owen, Toby Jones, Natalie Imbruglia, Chris Moyles, and Rishi Sunak.
With all this fame and star power, is this remote Yorkshire Dales pub worth all the hype? The answer is definitely yes! Those who brave a trip across the wild landscape are greeted by a cosy and friendly pub with a roaring fire, perfect for warming up on those colder days.
Then there’s the food! You can choose from hearty pub classics such as steak and ale pie, fish and chips, ploughman’s platter, lasagne, and an enormous and very tasty Sunday roast.
If you fancy washing it all down with a pint, then there are plenty of fantastic options, including Tan Hill Ewe Juice, Black Sheep, and Theakston Old Peculier.

After trekking all that way, you may have weary legs and heavy eyes. Well, the Tan Hill Inn offers a range of accommodation options. If you are looking for uber comfort, then they have classically decorated bedrooms with modern en-suite facilities and highly comfortable beds. There are double, family, and twin rooms available. Number four takes us to the picturesque Yorkshire Dales village of East Witton. Located on the village green, this award-winning, 18th-century pub offers traditional decor, exceptional plates of seasonal grub, great ales, and comfortable rooms.

They have taken pub grub to a whole different level. In their more formal restaurant, you can tuck into delicious dishes such as roast Gressingham duck breast, free-range chicken breast and summer truffle, pancetta and pecorino carbonara, and fillet of sea bass ‘au pistou’.
