Two of Yorkshire’s cities, Sheffield and Leeds have officially been shortlisted to host Eurovision next year. It was revealed on the Zoe Ball Breakfast Show on Radio 2 this morning. There was a guest appearance from Eurovision Song Contest Executive Supervisor Martin Osterdahl, who declared the Host City race ‘good to go’. The UK has previously hosted Eurovision eight times, and now due to Sam Ryder’s iconic performance of Space Man. It has been announced by Yorkshire Water that the first hosepipe ban in 27 years is set to come into place on the 26th August. The water company, which supplies five million customers, has said that reservoir levels have fallen below 50% for the first time since 1995 – meaning they have had to take measures to help recover supply. It’s currently unclear how long the hosepipe ban will last, however, those caught breaking the ban will face fines of up to £1,000.
