The Castle Howard Christmas experience has become an annual event that we get excited about! This year looks to be as magical as ever. The Castle Howard team revealed the theme for this year’s event, and this year, we’re going back in time to Victorian times. The stately home has been transformed into a Dickensian Christmas.
Each year, the stunning stately home pulls in thousands of visitors with themes such as the Wizard of Oz, Peter Pan and Narnia, and this year is sure to be an exciting one as we venture back to the world of Charles Dickens as we see some of his iconic characters come to life in the 2026 Castle Howard Christmas show named A Dickens of a Christmas at Castle Howard.
Castle Howard’s Christmas experience has become one of Yorkshire’s biggest festive attractions and typically sells out well in advance. And the experience runs from 12 November 2026 to 3 January 2027.

Castle Howard’s Christmas experiences are produced by CLW Event. Who’ll transform the house into a Victorian Christmas inspired by the works of Charles Dickens, featuring characters such as Ebenezer Scrooge, immersive room displays, projections, soundscapes and theatrical elements.
From festive ghosts to Victorian London, Charles Dickens’ stories have become synonymous with Christmas, making the iconic stately home a fitting setting for an immersive seasonal experience.
Posting to their social channel, Castle Howard wrote: “This Victorian extravaganza will leave you full to the brim with festive cheer! Charles Dickens’ classic novels are brought to life in grand Christmas style, leaping off the page with projections, soundscapes, and theatrical surprises.
“As the cold nights draw in, warm your hands and hearts by the grand roaring fire and encounter familiar faces from Dickens’ most treasured novels, including Ebenezer Scrooge and a ghost or two. “Rich in nostalgia, storytelling and Christmas spirit, it’s an immersive journey that celebrates Christmas magic.”
