An Immersive Northern Lights Trail Is Returning To Yorkshire This Christmas

The sun may be shining, but that doesn’t mean we can’t start dreaming of twinkling lights, festive treats, and magical winter wonderlands. And what better way to kickstart the Christmas countdown than with the return of Northern Lights Leeds, one of Yorkshire’s most enchanting holiday experiences.

Following two hugely successful years, The Lost Light of Christmas will transform the historic Leeds estate, Temple Newsam, into a glowing festive wonderland from 20th November until 31st December 2026, taking visitors on a brand-new narrative-led adventure through enchanting woodland and illuminated landscapes.

Welcoming more than 100,000 visitors each year, Northern Lights Leeds has been completely reimagined for 2026. This year’s trail will feature exclusive installations created by some of the UK’s leading light artists, combining spectacular light displays, interactive elements, special effects and bespoke audio to tell the story of a magical quest to restore the Lost Light of Christmas before it disappears forever.

Follow the Lost Light of Christmas Through Temple Newsam

The mile-long trail will lead guests through enchanted forests, sparkling pathways and shimmering lagoons, with plenty of hidden surprises waiting to be discovered along the way. Visitors can also enjoy more than a dozen stunning light installations, vintage fairground rides and an array of festive favourites, including mulled wine, hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows.

Christmas Village, Food and Festive Treats

The popular Christmas Village will also return, showcasing some of Yorkshire’s best artisan food and drink vendors, giving visitors the chance to enjoy everything from street food to seasonal treats as part of their evening.

To celebrate the launch of this year’s event, organisers are offering a limited Kids Go Free promotion. Visitors who book an Off-Peak Early Bird adult ticket can claim up to two free children’s tickets per booking.

Northern Lights is also continuing its commitment to accessibility by hosting two neuro-inclusive evenings, with visitor numbers reduced by 75 per cent alongside lower audio levels to create a calmer experience for guests.

Ben Robinson, Director at From The Fields, said: “After two incredible years at Temple Newsam, we’re thrilled to be reinventing Northern Lights Leeds. The team has excelled itself with a truly immersive narrative experience unlike anything we’ve ever created before and we think Leeds is going to love The Lost Light of Christmas. Having worked closely with Temple Newsam over the past few years, we’re constantly improving the Northern Lights experience to make it as inclusive and accessible as possible.”

Tickets go on sale on Thursday, 2nd July, with prices starting from £12 for children and £17 for adults. News on Early Bird deals, Kids Go Free tickets and further information can be found here.
