The festive season is very much on the horizon, and it is probably time to start planning your activities. One of the best things to do in Yorkshire is to visit the many Christmas markets popping up across the county. There is one that stands out for us. Yes, it is technically not in Yorkshire; however, it is just a stone’s throw away in the beautiful Peak District.
Chatsworth Christmas Market is set in the wonderful Chatsworth House. The Grade I listed house dates back to 1553 and comprises a 105-acre garden, a farmyard, an adventure playground, a 1,822-acre park, and one of Europe’s most important private art collections. So, there are a few grander places to start your Christmas shopping!
Christmas Gifts, Delicious Food, and Plenty of Festive Tipples

Held on Lodge Hill, located between the house entrance and the Stables, the market has over 100 stalls selling an array of Christmas gifts and decorations, food and drink, and great stocking fillers. Much of what is on offer is sourced from local or UK-based makers. As you shop, there are glittering lights and live music that will fill the air, all adding to a magical atmosphere.
We are sure you will be famished after all that shopping. Don’t worry, there is plenty of delicious scran and tipples to try. You can treat yourself to a pint of German beer or a festive mulled wine in one of the bars. Or you can try some lip-smacking food such as churros, pancakes, hot port rolls, and gourmet burgers. Alternatively, you can book lunch, dinner, or, if you are feeling fancy, afternoon tea in the Cavendish restaurant.

Oh, if you fancy a lovely winter walk before or after the market, then you have the picturesque Bakewell and Baslow on the doorstep. What a perfect day out!
The Chatsworth Christmas Market runs from 7 November 2026 to 13 December 2026. Entry to the market is free, but if you are travelling by car, you have to book a parking space in advance. You can book car park tickets here. You will find Chatsworth House at: Chatsworth House, Bakewell, Derbyshire, DE45 1PP.
So, get ready to have a wonderful Christmastime at the glittering Chatsworth Christmas Market.
