The Magical Victorian Christmas Market In Quaint Yorkshire Dales Village

Halloween and Bonfire Night have passed, which means we can finally look forward to the festivities. Here at The Yorkshireman, we are much more excited by twinkling lights, festive markets and Christmas cheer than all the whizz bangs of fireworks – so much so that we don’t want to miss out on any of the top Christmas markets & events taking place in Yorkshire.

And one such even that is one not to miss if Grassington’s Christmas market. The Yorkshire Dales village has risen in popularity over the last few years due to Channel 5’s reboot of All Creatures Great and Small. The quaint village has been used as the fictional village of Darrowby created by vet Alf Wight aka James Herriot.

Grassington is set to transform into a twinkling wonderland as the Christmas markets bring all the joys to the village from the 29th November to the 6th December 2025. Expect Christmas market stalls with food & drink as well as music from the City of Bradford Brass Band and Voices of Yorkshire. Visit Santa in his Grotto in The Pod at Grassington House – he will be here on both Saturdays between 11am and 3pm.

You’ll find Fayth Seaglass, Footprint Pottery, Herd & Hive, Millie’s Brownies, Northern Lavender, Penny Haygarth childens’ book, Love Pickle, The Flower Loft, The Zero Pantry Ltd, Yorkshire Air Ambulance – and many more taking over the stalls in the village square. There will even be a Santa’s Grotta at the town hall, which will be just £5 per child!

The village is the perfect place for the cold winter months. Enjoy the twinkling lights adorning the shop, pub, and restaurant windows, as well as the independent shops, to search for the perfect Christmas gift. Seek shelter from the cold in one of the villages many firelight pubs, including The Devonshire, which is used as the frontage for Darrowby Arms, the fictional pub in All Creatures.

The Christmas Markets are free to visit, and you can find parking at the Grassington National Park Visitors Centre on Hebden Road for around £2.50 for 4 hours.
