It’s been 20 years since Harry Potter captured the hearts of the globe. And guess what? We’re still pretty obsessed with the magical franchise – a fact only fuelled by York’s uncanny resemblance to the Wizarding World.
Situated by the tranquil River Foss, The Enchantment Chamber plays on its location with tons of wonderful nods toe all things Harry Potter, making it the perfect place for a staycation this winter.

Boasting cosy interiors with Gryffindor hues, guests can escape to a whole new world when staying at the ‘chamber’, with the little luxuries of day-to-day life combined with those traditional touches of a bygone, yet magical, era.

Home to one bedroom, guests can snuggle up in the dorm-style kingsize bed, which is complete with wrap around curtains that resemble those of the Gryffindor boys dorm rooms from the movies (except, without the match-box size!).

Elsewhere, guests will stumble upon curious finishes throughout, from old, leather-bound books, to owl cages, cauldron tables and iron signage, with tons to discover throughout the stay.
And while the main rooms focus heavily on those medieval gothic touches that are expected of the Wizarding World, areas such as the kitchen and bathroom feature modern finishes – meaning guests won’t have to scrimp on luxury during their stay.

Located in the city centre, the chamber is ideally located for exploring York’s many attractions – including The Shambles (which is rumoured to have inspired Diagon Alley), the Minster, and the stunning York City Walls.
Bookings are available now throughout the winter, and you can find out more here.
