A ‘Rock & Roll’ Inspired Bar With Beers, Live And Burgers Is Opening In York

Yesterday it was announced that a new York bar will close next month. And while at first it sounds like doom and gloom for the city, thankfully this time, it’s not – because popular bar Jimmy’s is planning a new, bigger and better venture for the Northern brand. This time, with a purpose-built ‘arena’.

Opening on Low Petergate just last year, Jimmy’s will be going back to its roots with its new York venue – bringing live music to the owner’s home city. Founded by George and Jimmy Craig of band One Night Only, the bar and restaurant has two other successful venues in Manchester and Liverpool, however, started life as a live music bar in the Northern Quarter a number of years ago.

The rock n’ roll bar is set to take over the old Fibbers venue on Toft Green, after it was announced that they’d teamed up with North Star back in January. The current venue is set to close on the 12th of June.

It is planned to be a 500-capacity live music venue. In a statement, George and Jimmy said moving swiftly.

“Jimmy’s is extremely pleased to announce that we are moving house – to a brand-new music venue on Toft Green, York,” they said.

“We have been working with North Star Developments to design Jimmy’s new home in York city centre – a state-of-the-art 500-capacity live music club night venue which will put York back on the UK touring map to host established and emerging UK and international bands and artists.

“This great news sadly means a fond farewell to our Low Petergate restaurant & music bar in Low Petergate which will be closing with a bang on June 12th, but it means we can fully focus on our core values at the new location: Good Beer, Good Music, Good Times.”
