We’ve loved the latest series of House of the Dragon, which featured Yorkshire’s own James Norton, who played Lord Ormund Hightower. And he seems to be a busy bee, as the incredible Netflix series House of Guinness, from Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, is returning for a new series.
The period drama, which tells the story of the famous Guinness brewing family, is set in 19th-century Dublin in the wake of the death of Sir Benjamin Guinness, the man who built the company’s early success.
There’s no release date yet, but we’re very excited about the news. Steven Knight was equally enthusiastic, saying: “It was such a joy to bring the Guinness story to the screen, so I’m beyond thrilled to be continuing the story of one of the world’s greatest dynasties. I can’t wait to dive deeper into these characters and their complex relationships as they expand the Guinness empire,” Digital Spy reports.
James Norton plays Sean Rafferty, a Guinness foreman and fixer for the family. House of Guinness features a stellar cast, with the siblings portrayed by Anthony Boyle as Arthur, Louis Partridge as Edward, Emily Fairn as Anne, and Fionn O’Shea as Benjamin. The story follows the family as they grapple with the loss of their father while navigating the responsibilities and pressures of running the company.
It’s easy to draw comparisons between Peaky Blinders and House of Guinness: two families facing hardship, navigating tough decisions and surrounded by plenty of drink. But rather than focusing on a single dominant protagonist, this new series thrives on a rich mix of strong characters.
We’ll keep our ear to the ground for a release date.
