Christmas talk already? Why not! Especially when the North Yorkshire Moors Railway (NYMR) is offering its magical Christmas Pullman services for the festive season. Embrace the holiday spirit with the unique experiences such as the Christmas Pullman, Christmas Charters, and Christmas Afternoon Tea.
These steam-powered round-trip services will sets off from Grosmont Station in the North York Moors and travel to Pickering Station and back. The trip takes a total visit time of around 2 hours and 45 minutes. The Christmas Pullman deal involves guests enjoying a three-course Christmas banquet while journeying through the scenic Yorkshire countryside.
The menu showcases the best seasonal flavours, beginning with a warm welcome of mulled wine and fresh bread. Starters include the chef’s homemade vegetable and lentil soup, smoked salmon and prawn salad, or garlic mushrooms. For the main course, options include traditional roast turkey, daube of beef, or the chef’s homemade vegetable bake. Desserts feature traditional Christmas pudding, poached pear pavlova, or a selection of cheese and biscuits. Tea and coffee, served with mince pies, conclude the meal.
For a more private experience, the Private Coupes with Drinks Package offer a cosy setting for up to four people in your own compartment. The cost per person for the Christmas Pullman is £99, while the Four Person Private Coupe with Drinks Package is priced at £425. Dates for the Christmas Pullman include 26th-29th November, 3rd-6th, 10th-13th, 17th-20th, 28th-30th December, and 2nd-5th January.
Christmas Charters provide a bespoke festive experience ideal for private celebrations, Christmas parties, or special occasions. Hosted aboard the Great Western Saloon, built in 1948, this experience includes mulled wine on arrival, followed by a cold meat platter, smoked salmon, pork pie, and broccoli and stilton quiche. Accompaniments include mixed leaf salad, potato salad, and artisan breads. Dessert offerings include lemon tart, salted caramel profiteroles, fruit cake slice, and a selection of cheeses, served with tea, coffee, and mince pies. This exclusive experience is priced at £1595, with dates available from 26th November through to 5th January.
The Christmas Afternoon Tea offers a festive twist on the traditional British tea. Served in the Great Western Saloon, it includes a selection of sandwiches, pork pie, cheese and chive scone, and broccoli and cheese tart, along with desserts like Victoria sponge cake, salted caramel profiteroles, chocolate and Cointreau tart, and mince pies. Tickets are £85, with dates on 28th November, and 5th, 12th, and 19th December.
