The latest has come from Acor, a huge hospitality company, which has combed through data to unveil Sheffield as the foodie capital of the UK. And, as much as these things are to be taken with a pinch of salt, we have to agree with them.
After sifting through data, the prominent hospitality company, unveiled an unexpected victor in the form of the steel city of Sheffield. They crowned it as the UK’s ultimate foodie hotspot due to it boasting remarkable culinary credentials. It was gained through the cities food festivals and markets and a thorough evaluation of Google reviews and social media engagement.

Scoring an impressive 99 for its food festivals and 71 for its food markets, it topped the table. It made the top three for south after destination for food tourism and scored a 54 for a foodies population to be named as food lovers paradise.

But, what has Sheffield to offer to score so high?
Well, there’s the Peddler’s Food market each month as well as the amazing as well as the Cutlery Works, which is the biggest food hall in the North. Then there is Kommune, and Sheffield Plate, which all serve up delicious street food from all over the world.
Along with that, the likes of Kelham Island, Devonshire St, and other spots across the city have some great eatiers with new ones popping up all the time.

Accor’s came to the decision through a range of factors such as encompassing Michelin guide listings, the popularity of food festivals and markets, social media impact gauged through Instagram and TikTok statistics, Google Reviews, OpenTable ratings, analysis from news outlets, and overall social sentiment.
Each city received a total score out of 99, with Sheffield achieving the highest score, particularly excelling in the food festival category. Accor aptly describes Sheffield as a ‘paradise for food lovers.’
