You Can Now Wild Swim In A Stunning Lake At One Of Yorkshire’s Prettiest Castles
You can now wild swim at Swinton Park Estate in Yorkshire, with lovely scenes of the castle.

As temperatures rise, our desire to dunk ourselves in freezing cold water does, too – a desire the team at Swinton Park Estate is set to fulfill all summer long.

Launching summer wild swim season now that the balmier weather has finally arrived, guests and day visitors can enjoy a dip at one of Yorkshire’s most gorgeous lakes – which boasts a dramatic backdrop of the stunning ivy-clad castle.

Suitable for all levels of wild swimmer, the lake is perfect for those looking for a swim with a view, but also those dipping their toes for the first time, too, since the wild swim season takes place in one of the Estate’s smaller lakes.

If that wasn’t all, the Estate has created a safe way for guests to access the lake, too, with a platform and a ladder gently guiding swimmers into the lake.

Felicity Cunliffe-Lister, owner of Swinton Estate said: “We are excited to launch our 2023 wild swimming season on our private lake. Swimming in open water is an amazing way to connect with nature, and we are delighted to offer this activity to our guests in such a beautiful location,”

“The lake is open to hardy bathers all year round, but we officially launch our wild swimming season in May, when the water is usually a temperate 12-16 degrees Celsius – still invigorating, and some people may prefer to wear a wetsuit!

“As we move into the summer, the lake reaches temperatures up to 20 degrees – ideal on a balmy summer’s afternoon as a way of cooling off.”

The wild swimming activity is free for anyone staying at Swinton Estate, however, day visitors will need to purchase a £10 Parklands & Gardens Pass to get access.

Pre-booking a swim is also advised, as the Estate only allows eight swimmers at a time to ensure all guests have a great experience while enjoying their cold water swim.

Wild swimming is available every day from 7am-9pm, so you might even catch a sunset while taking a dip, too!

Wild swimming runs from May-September, and you can find out more about the Estate’s wellness experiences here.

In addition to being able to stay inside the castle, Swinton Estate also offers an alternative glamping experience, for those looking to enjoy the nature side of the stunning Estate.
