Lockdown might be over, but the idea of heading out without our four-legged friends now is non-negotiable. They’re our trusty, furry side kicks, and if you ask us, the perfect companions for a brunch in the countryside.
Launching just this month, Barnsley’s Cannon Hall Farm – which is also home to this summer’s 5 On The Farm event – has opened The Lucky Pup, Yorkshire’s newest dog-friendly venue offering up the perfect spot for dogs (and their owners) to kick back and relax on a slow weekend.
Located just outside of the farm compound (meaning no entry fee is required!), the spacious restaurant has room for around 150 diners – with plenty of space in between tables for our pooches to get comfy.
Offering tons of breakfast and brunch options for Yorkshire folk to enjoy, the cosy, barn-like spot focuses on simple grub for everyone to enjoy – using locally-sourced produce to create their dishes.
Think classic plates such as the Farmers’ breakfast complete with bacon, sausages and all the trimmings, as well as dishes such as Eggs Royale, Florentine, and even a homely beans on toast – in addition to scrumptious cakes, coffees and plenty of other cafe sweet treats.
But the real hook? The abundance of dog treats available behind the counter, with tons of flavours to suit your pooches not-so-picky taste buds, including duck, lamb and fish. Scraps aren’t good enough for a Yorkshireman pup, after all.
Named in honour of one of the farm’s very own former pups, The Lucky Pup isn’t just dog-tolerant, but completely dog-friendly – providing a warm welcome to all feet and paws that walk through their doors.
And while The Lucky Pup is, of course, an attraction in itself, guests can also enjoy Cannon Hall Farm’s many new arrivals (including happy as larry piggys!), a reptile house, a huge play area for the kids and so much more.
