Two Yorkshire Legends Join Forces For Channel 5’s The Yorkshire Vet Christmas Special

We love The Yorkshire Vet’s annual Christmas episode and this year’s ‘A Donkey For Christmas’ is set to be a good one as Peter Wright joins forces with Yorkshire legend, Dame Judi Dench on Channel 5. She’s set to take on a new role looking after animals in the extra special Christmas special.

But what can we expect from this Yorkshire collab we never knew we needed?

The synopsis for the festive episode The Yorkshire Vet: A Donkey For Christmas reads: “Donkey-loving vet Peter Wright travels the country and meets the unsung heroes of the donkey welfare world.” In the episode, we see Peter travel to Cornwall where he meets Dame Judi who is a patron of The Flicka Foundation Donkey Sanctuary The show is set to air on Channel 5 on Tuesday 17th December.

Peter and Judi bond over their love of donkeys and of course Yorkshire. The Yorkshire Vet gave Dame Judi, who was born in York a Yorkshire pin badge and says: ‘It isn’t every day a dame of the realm asks a raggy-arsed country vet for their contact details.’

Speaking to the Yorkshire Post Peter said: “I could see as I was busy filming, that Dame Judy was holding court with these donkeys in one of the paddocks. It was lovely to see, really, because you could see that the love and care was genuine.”

He continued: “I recited the Yorkshire saying: ‘see all, hear all, say nowt; eat all, sip all, pay nowt’. She never heard it before and then she immediately slipped into a perfect North Yorkshire dialect to mimic me; I found it hilarious to be honest, we had a really good laugh. It’s a day I won’t forget.”

Peter has already been featured in one Channel 5 Christmas special with longtime customers and friends the Greens. You can catch up on that via My5.
