This Hull Irish Pub Is Now Serving Spice Bags

A popular Irish pub in Hull has added a much-loved takeaway classic to its menu, and they’re well worth the visit. Molly Mangan’s, located on Newland Avenue, is now serving up the iconic Irish spice bag, bringing a true taste of Dublin to the city.

Traditionally served in a paper bag, the dish is a comforting mix of crispy fried chicken, salt and pepper chips, and stir-fried peppers, all paired with a rich curry sauce on the side that’s perfect for pouring over or dipping.

The spice bag was first created by a Chinese takeaway in Dublin around 2006 and quickly took Ireland by storm, becoming a nationwide favourite and late-night staple. All washed down with a pint of Guinness, it was a perfect visit that I’m still thinking about days after.

Now, Hull locals can get in on the action, with the dish landing right here in the city. And in true Irish fashion, it’s best enjoyed alongside a pint of the black stuff.
