Thor’s Tipi Is Returning To York City Centre With A Communal Twist

Everyone has visited York-based popular Christmas attraction, Thor’s Tipi. Established back in 2015, it has fast become an established part of the York tapestry, which is no surprise given they are a family friendly space, as well as a unique experience complete with fire pits and warm mulled wine.

And it’s become just as popular for its summer Sol Ast in recent years, too – which is located at the Principal Hoel gardens, right next to the train station. Providing tourists and locals with a great space to enjoy time together during the pandemic, it’s no wonder Thor’s Tipi continues to go from strength to strength.

And now, the people at Thor’s Tipi are helping out again, providing their tent space for people to enjoy food and drink from local shops in the city centre. Taking to social media, they announced their new concept, writing: “We’re excited to be opening our ‘Love York’ shared space. So grab your feast & drinks from any local business and enjoy under our tipi’s.”

Working with York BID, Visit York and the City of York Council to make this happen, it is uniquely decorated and provides a great space for people to get out and help out local businesses, who have struggled immensely over the last year due to the pandemic.

The space will allow those businesses who are unable to gain a license to open an outdoor terrace to continue trading during this last crucial month, giving a shared space for customers to enjoy their food and drink in a whole new way. The idea means that those only able to operate on a takeaway business won’t miss out on essential trading while those with beer gardens and outdoor terraces enjoying their first month back in business this year.

It’s nice to see such community spirit and we’ll be over to York as soon as we can to support all those amazing local businesses as they get back on their feet. Here’s to an amazing summer, and a great start to better days ahead.
