The iconic Whitby Abbey, that sits at the top of the 199 steps, is set to once again be lit up in a fantastic light show this Halloween for the Illuminated Whitby Abbey 2023.
After last year’s successful event in Whitby, its back and set to cast a light on the dark history. See Bram Stoker’s inspiration in a new light as it is bathed in a rainbow of colour in a dramatic scene once again thanks to English Heritage.
You can see the story of Dracula brought to life with a twist before your very eyes as you explore the abbey ruins by night at Whitby Abbey Illuminated 2023.
The family-friendly event is the perfect way to explore Halloween. Afterall, what can be more gothic that Dracula himself.
Follow the trails of light about the abbey and meet a range of eerie characters as they spin you a tale of unusual events and happenings. You can also explore the abbey and take stunning photos as you do.

After you’ve finished exploring you can warm up with toasted marshmallows and a warm beverage with food and drink options available.
The event is a fantastic Halloween celebration, and your tickets five you access to the abbey and the musuem as well so once you’ve finished exploring the light littered ruin you can wander inside and learn all about this fantastic relic.
Operating outside of the abbey’s usual workiing hours, prices start at £16 for non-member adults and £9.50 for children with under 5s getting in free.
