Yorkshire's Top 10 Places To Live in 2025 Have Been Named

Thinking of moving, or just love having a nosey at other places other than your own town? Well, Muddy Stilettos, a lifestyle guide, has named the best places to live in Britain for 2025, voted for by the readers, and it includes a list of the top 10 places in Yorkshire. Whether it’s great restaurants, dreamy cottages or a thriving city you’re after.

Writing about Yorkshire, Muddy Stilettos wrote: “Revered as God’s Own Country, Yorkshire is a paradise of heavenly scenery, craggy coastline, historic homes, spa towns and culturally vibrant cities. Oh, and as well as being Britain’s largest county, we’ve our very own Yorkshire Day to celebrate annually, too! Part of our Top 300 Best Places to Live series.”

Topping the best list of places to live in Yorkshire is the historic city of York, known for its cobbled streets, the most impressive minster in Europe and its Roman walls. Well deserved; we love a bit of York, you can’t beat a stroll along the river before heading to one of its riverside bars in the summer, or getting warm by the fire in one of its many cosy pubs.

In second place is the ‘Gateway to the Dales‘, Skipton, home to an impressive market, one of the most intact castles and a stunning canal perfect for a stroll. And, in third place is Helmsley, a historic market town in the North York Moors, which has a fantastic independent scene and is a short drive from the divine Yorkshire Spa Retreat.

There’s a good mix of vibrant spots with lots of restaurants and bars mixed in with quiet, quaint market towns and villages with independent shops to peruse and walks in nature a stone’s throw away in the likes of the Yorkshire Dales, North York Moors and Yorkshire Wolds.

Filey, sometimes overshadowed by its more popular seaside town counterparts, Scarborough and Bridlington, also featured in the list. We love a trip out to the North Yorkshire seaside town – especially when it includes a trip to Inghams for some fish & chips.
