12 Yorkshire Chippies Named In Top 50 Fish & Chip Shops Across The UK

We love a good chippy up North, and some of Yorkshire’s finest fish and chip shops have been revealed as among the best in the UK—a fact that won’t surprise many of us. Of course, we all know our local chippy is the best, and no one can tell us otherwise. However, these awards are fantastic for the county and for the chippies themselves, giving them well-deserved recognition in what is undoubtedly a challenging time for businesses.

The 50 best fish and chip takeaways for 2025—alongside restaurants and takeaways with the highest standards of food, customer service, and marketing—have been unveiled, and plenty of Yorkshire’s own have made the list. According to Fry Magazine and their top 10 fish and chip restaurants for 2025, Yorkshire stands proud on the national stage.

Mystery judges visited premises unannounced, secretly scrutinising a variety of aspects, including food quality, cleanliness, staff knowledge, value for money, ease of ordering, and social media presence.

Organiser Reece Head said: “Congratulations to this year’s award winners! Another year has passed and, once again, these shops have shown resilience, adapting to today’s challenges with remarkable dedication. At a time when inflationary pressures are being felt, these businesses continue to stay positive, prioritise their customers, maintain exceptional standards, and find innovative ways to keep fish and chips affordable.

“Starting the year as award winners is a fantastic way for fish and chip shops to kick off 2025, setting the tone for a successful year ahead. Whether served in a restaurant, a takeaway, or from a mobile unit, the Fry Awards prove that quality fish and chips can be enjoyed anywhere.”
