3 Picturesque Yorkshire Beaches Have Been Named In The UK’s Top 5

Yorkshire has a lot to be proud of, From its rolling hills to its beautiful coastline. Thousands of people flock to our little county in the search for a staycation with a difference. The Sunday Times has once again noticed the spectacular Yorkshire coastline in its annual guide to the best beaches, with three Yorkshire beaches featuring in their list.

Not only have Yorkshire’s beaches featured in their list three of them are in the top 5 – not bad, eh? It was praised for such factors as beauty, the luxury of space and dog-friendliness. 805 beaches fought for the top title, but Yorkshire’s beaches are top quality.

Second on the list was Runswick Bay in North Yorkshire, which travel writer Chris Haslam described as having “the power to quicken the heartbeat”. As part of the Cleveland Way, it promises beautiful golden sands and spectacular sea views. It was knocked off its top spot from 2020, but silver is nothing to be sniffed at. It offers spacious beaches, as well as rock pools to explore and a beautiful sea.

Taking the bronze was beautiful Sandsend, which is just up the road from Whitby. The fishing village is a picturesque backdrop for the spectacular views from the beautiful beach that is perfect in the summer.

Fourth on the list, a gem of the Yorkshire coastline offers panoramic views of the fabulous Filey. It has a great long, wide beach that is great for summer. Enjoy a nice ice cream and cup of tea at the fantastic Hunmanby Gap Cafe.
