One of rock music’s giants is coming to one of Yorkshire’s much-loved seaside towns. Following the announcement of their 10th studio album, O My Beloved, multi-award-winning Kings of Leon are headlining Scarborough Open Air Theatre on Sunday, June 27th 2027.
The band, formed in Mount Juliet, Tennessee, in 1999, consists of brothers Nathan, Caleb, and Jared Followill, alongside their cousin Matthew Followill. The band’s sound has evolved from the southern rock and blues influences of their 2003 debut album, ‘Youth & Young Manhood’, to the more alternative, arena-rock sound of their hit album ‘Only by the Night’, released in 2008.
Only by the Night was a huge commercial success, as were the singles ‘Sex on Fire‘, ‘Use Somebody’, and ‘Notion’. The album went platinum in the US, won a Brit Award for Best International Album, and ‘Use Somebody‘ won a Grammy for Best Rock Song.
Scarborough Open Air will join a prestigious list of venues the band have graced with their presence. These include Coachella, Lollapalooza, Glastonbury, the Leeds and Reading Festivals, and London’s Hyde Park. It is only one of two northern UK shows on the tour, as well as London’s The O2 and the Isle of Wight Festival.
Julian Murray from promoters Cuffe and Taylor said: ‘Kings of Leon are one of the world’s biggest rock bands, with an incredible catalogue of hits and a live reputation built over more than two decades. We’re absolutely delighted to welcome them to the Open Air Theatre next summer.’
Kings of Leon join other great artists in a packed programme for 2027, including Kaiser Chiefs, Slash, Ronan Keating, Simply Red, and Alex Warren.
