York’s Legendary Dame Berwick Kaler To Make Incredible Return To Panto This Christmas

It’s pantomime season once again, and after a turbulent few years due to the pandemic, it’s back with a vengeance. And, York is pulling no punches with the return of York Panto legend Berwick Kaler, the real Dame of York. He is dusting off his frivolous frocks and treading the boards once more at The Grand Opera House.

The star of pantomime for over 40 years, Berwick, and his critically acclaimed performance as dame are back with Dick Turpin Rides Again this Christmas.

He’ll be back with more of our favourite quotes, “me babies, me bairns”, and a plot that is somewhat hard to follow. One thing we know for sure is, there is always plenty of fun and laughter when you visit one of Berwick’s panto shows.

Back along with Berwick are his band of pantomime favourites Martin Barrass, Yorkshire’s longest-serving Principal Girl Suzy Cooper, AJ Powell, and villain David Leonard in a production packed full of madcap comedy, spectacular song and dance, and a Wagon Wheel or two!

This pantomime is a real good old-fashioned laugh, and one with devoted fans that have been visiting the city, some since the first showing to enjoy the festive fun and frolicking. We just hope we manage to catch a Wagon Wheel this year!

You can catch Berwick and his mates from Saturday the 11th December, right through until the 9th January.
