It’s always exciting when a new drama airs on tele and it features Yorkshire as a backdrop. And, the new Channel 4 series does just that. The Channel 4 Patience filming locations cover both York and Belgium. The six-part police drama follows Patience Evans, played by Ella Maisy Purvis, who works in the records department of the Yorkshire Police cataloguing and filing evidence and is about to be given more responsibilities.
Patience is a young autistic woman who craves routine and order but is tasked with more responsibility by Detective Bea Metcalf played by Laura Fraser from Breaking Bad.
Set to air Wednesday 8th January, Purvis’ character attends support groups for autistic adults where they discuss the barriers faced in a neuro-typical world and how best to navigate it. Neuro-diverse actors, including the title role of Patience, will play all neuro-divergent characters within the series.

So, where are the Channel 4 series Patience filming locations?
Filming moved to York in April 2024 and crews picked various locations across the city. The series creators say the cases the police solve with the help of Patience are baffling and unusual and set in extraordinary places around York. Patience can also be seen later in the trailer walking away from the popular shopping street of Stonegate towards the Minster.
York Minster – Bird’s view establishing shots showcase the amazing architecture of York Minster one of the historic cities’ most popular tourist spots.
The Shambles – Watching the trailer you see Purvis’ character with headphones. Wonder if she managed to resist popping to Shambles Kitchen for one of their tasty sarnies. Lord knows we couldn’t manage that.
Clifford’s Tower – Seen in the press pics and also in the trailer for the upcoming series is Clifford’s Tower another popular tourist spot that also has quite a dark history.
Roman Walls – York is known for its Roman Walls that surround the city centre, which tourists love to wander around. In a press image, you can see Patience sitting on the city walls.
Other notable locations are the River Ouse, Monk Bar and Gillygate. Wales Online reports that filming took place in April 2024.
