We’re more than a little excited about the newly released first-look images for Channel 5’s All Creatures Great and Small series five. James Herriot and the gang will return this autumn, and the fresh photos offer a sneak peek at what’s in store.
This heartwarming period drama, based on the cherished stories of James Herriot (the pen name of veterinarian Alf Wight), is set in the fictional village of Darrowby in the Yorkshire Dales, centred around the tales from Skeldale House.
First-look images for All Creatures Great and Small series five were released last month – tantalising the audiences – and now the news of the release date has got us ready for our autumn tradition of getting cosy in front of the tele with James and the gang.

One of the biggest highlights of the upcoming season is Tristan’s return, who was absent in series four while serving in the war effort. A touching image captures Siegfried and his younger brother reuniting, promising to melt hearts as the usually stoic vet practice owner shows his softer side upon Tristan’s return from the Royal Army Veterinary Corps.
The Channel 5 series continues to “bring the stories of James Herriot to life as we return to Darrowby to rejoin our unconventional, much-loved Skeldale family and the vibrant ensemble of farmers, animals, and townsfolk residing in the 1940s Yorkshire Dales.”
Filming for series five wrapped up in July, and the new season will make its debut on Channel 5 on Thursday, September 19, at 9 pm.
