Dearest gentle readers, the season is upon us (the festive season, that is), and if you’re looking to take your new petticoat out for a spin, we think we have just the place: Chatsworth House – twinkling in festive lights, oozing bags of Christmas cheer, all with a hint of Bridgerton flair. Lady Whistledown herself would be impressed.
Found just a stone’s throw outside of Yorkshire in the stunning Peak District, Chatsworth House is a sight to behold all year round, but at Christmas, it carries a particularly nostalgic festive feel.

Home to an annual Christmas market in its Lodge Hill courtyard, the stunning occasion makes for the perfect day out, with over 100 market stalls to peruse stocking local food and drinks, gifts, decorations and more.
Live music enhances the atmosphere, alongside the scent of stewing mulled wine, grilling Bratwursts, churros and more. Wrap up warm for this one, you’re gonna wanna potter for a while with a bit of festive grub and a warm tipple.
The shopping experience continues into Chatsworth’s quaint stable shop, too, where you can peruse the Estate’s own range of produce, gifts and stocking fillers.

A twinkling rainbow of lights encompasses the house’s 18th-century facade, while elsewhere on the Estate, guests can continue the festive feels with an interactive light trail in the gardens, grand Christmas decor inside the stately home, and a fantastic afternoon tea at the Cavendish restaurant.
Taking place between the 9th November and 1st December, the stunning Christmas market is set to be one of the most quaint in the North, with beautiful Bakewell and Baslow on its doorstep for winter walks.
Tickets aren’t required for the market, but you will need to book parking in advance.

Other festive events on the Estate do require tickets, including access to the house and gardens.
Chatsworth House, Bakewell, DE45 1PP.
