Jeremy Clarkson won big at the National Television Awards (NTAs) last night, taking home the award for Best Docuseries after beating the likes of Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing, At Home With the Furys and Stacey & Joe.
The 66-year-old said the win was a “vote for farmers” and collected his award from presenters who have taken up the torch from The Grand Tour: Francis Bourgeois, James Engelsman and Thomas Holland, .
Collecting the award, Clarkson said: “Crikey. Some lovely programmes in that category. I’ve just discovered Paris Fury is from Doncaster like I am, so that’s also lovely. I don’t want to drone on forever, on behalf of everyone who makes this amazing show, thank you.”
Speaking backstage, he said: “The people who voted for us… I also think they kind of voted for farmers. I think they are going, ‘Oh, that is a difficult job.’”
Last year, the hit Prime Video show won Factual Entertainment Series of the Year, so Clarkson’s Farm is certainly on a winning streak at the NTAs.
Another winner for Yorkshire at this year’s NTAs was Emmerdale, which scooped two awards. It won Best Serial Drama Performance for Jeff Hordley, who plays Cain Dingle, as well as Best Serial Drama.
