A trio of beautiful, colourful Gypsy wagons, the site is conveniently located near Harrogate – so you’re not far from some of the best attractions Yorkshire has to offer. Explore the nearby Fountains Abbey, or venture out into Harrogate, York or Thirsk for a day trip.

Each wagon is completely unique and decorated differently, with two wagons sleeping two adults and the third designed for children. Together, they circle a cosy fire pit, perfect for warming up in the evening with a drink or for toasting marshmallows.

One of the wagons was created over five, long years before heading out on the open road, with one wagon spending years on the open road between Cornwall and Scotland. The well travelled caravans now rest together, and where better to be based than good ol’ Yorkshire?

The site can be found at Markington Hall, an historic setting dating back to the 1200s. The Hall and its grounds have been owned by William Wilberforce’s family for hundreds of years now, so not only are guests staying in a beautiful, Yorkshire setting, but also on Yorkshire history too. While the setting may feel rural, you can rest assured that civilisation is nearby with more modern-day amenities if required. Each wagon shares a log cabin, which includes a modern kitchen for cooking and making hot drinks, as well as a compost loo, shower and an open fire to share within the Glade.

Wildlife can be found nearby, with otters, owls, deer, and herons regularly popping by to say hello. On arrival, guests receive a warm and welcoming hamper filled with locally sourced fresh bread, eggs, milk, tea, sugar, wine and shortbread to enjoy, with breakfast hampers containing sausages, bacon and all the trimmings also available to order. Nearby, visitors can enjoy two pubs which are within walking distance, one serving up good pub grub, and another boasting a cosy beer garden for the summer months.

The caravans look over the pretty River Robert, where guests are invited to try their hand at fishing, while elsewhere activities such as football, croquet, badminton and boules are available to take part in.

Guests can rent the Gypsy vans together or singularly, with families welcome – and you can even rent the nearby lodge, too, which sleeps an extra two people.

Copper Beech Glade can be found at Markington Hall, Markington, Harrogate, HG3 3PQ and you can book your stay here.
