The chance of a white Christmas is a nice fantasy put on by all those festive films that hit our screens from November onwards. And, this year is no different. We’d love a dusting of snow to make the festive period even more merrier, but we won’t be holding our breath.
Some parts of the UK look like they may be getting some snow, according to Birmingham Live. However, Christmas is the start of the period where snow is seen as likely. It’s more common to see snow in January and February than in December,
Will we see snow in Yorkshire this Christmas?
Short answer, it’s possible. The weather maps from WX Charts, which use Met Desk data, show a sharp drop in temperature across the country – and forecasts are showing that snow is likely in several areas. The WX Charts models show purple and white to signal expected snowfall and are predicting snow to begin falling around December 22nd and December 23rd.
The Yorkshire Dales & Carlisle areas are in line for snowy conditions showing that there may be snow for Christmas fo those lucky enough to live in the wonderful Yorkshire Dales.
Betsson analysing historical data from 2000 to 2021 has looked at snow days, depths and Christmas snowfall— to reveal the UK cities that are most likely to wake up to a snowy Christmas. And some Yorkshire spots have been revealed. Ripon, Bradford and York sit in 2nd, 4th and 6th position – so could they be seeing a smattering of the magical white dust this Crimbo?
