This New Cowboy-Themed Bar Is Opening In York City Centre

Shortly after the opening of York’s first country music bar, another one is opening in the former bar, Jalou (formerly known as The Parish. The 11th-century Church is set to become Ruby Rae’s second site, offering up a taste of country with a side of line dancing. Yee-ha!

So slap on your cowboy boots and some tight Levi jeans, and we’ll see you there. The flagship bar in Newcastle opened over a year ago to huge success.

Expect an ‘authentic Nashville-inspired experience’ featuring country music, line dancing along with cowboy hats, a fitting drinks menu and country music vibes. Celebrating the opening, you can expect country music performances and more. The boys behind the venture have been searching for the perfect venue and happened upon a piece of York history. I remember bouncing around the venue at universtiy when it was then known as The Parish, so it will be nice to see new life in the stunning venue.

YorkMix reports that founder Dean Saunders said, “We’re over the moon to open our second ever Ruby Rae’s venue, especially in such an iconic city! Over the last six months we’ve looked at some really exciting opportunities, but we’ve managed to find our dream venue for our own little Ryman right here in York and we love it.”

Fellow founder Dan Cooke said, “We have built an incredible country music community in Newcastle and even welcomed almost 20 artists from Nashville to perform at Ruby Rae’s! Everyone loves the atmosphere, the dancing, live music and getting into the country music scene.”

“The new venue has phenomenal acoustics, amazing character and so much more than we could have expected,” continued Dean. “We’re really passionate about the brand, the country music community is really special and our aim is to keep everything as authentic as possible.”

We aren’t sure on the opening date yet, but will be keeping a close eye on this one.
