As we recover from a Bank Holiday spent in the fields of Bramham Park at Leeds Festival 2024, the news of the Oasis reunion is still buzzing around the internet with the 2025 tour days looking like the most highly anticipated thing this year.
The gigs will mark 16 years since Liam and Noel Gallagher split after the festival bust-up at their last gig a headline spot at V festival. The festival followed a year of touring around the world on their massive Dig Out Your Soul tour.
But did you know their last gig to their ‘own’ fans was in Yorkshire?
That’s right. Oasis played in East Yorkshire in the seaside town of Bridlington at The Spa, ‘one of the smallest venues the band has ever played’, which was seen as a warm-up gig ahead of the headline slot at the forthcoming V Festival.
Speaking about the performance back in 2009 Jo Clarke, sales and customer services manager at The Spa Bridlington, said: “This was the biggest and best rock concert to come to Bridlington in the Spa’s lifetime and from the minute the band came on the roar of the crowd was amazing.
“They sang all their hits, starting their set with Rock And Roll Star and playing through to I Am The Walrus which was their second encore. They went on at 9pm and stayed on stage until 10.35pm.
She continued: “People who had seen them up and down the country were saying that this was the best venue they had been at because they were so close that they felt they could reach out and touch them rather than watching them on a screen.”
“Hopefully the success of this gig will open all sorts of doors for other massive acts to come to Bridlington,” as seen in The Press.
Oasis has announced a 14-date reunion tour across the UK and Ireland in 2025. The concerts are set for July and August, with performances in stadiums in Cardiff, London, Manchester, Edinburgh, and Dublin. Tickets will be available starting at 9 a.m. on August 31, with prices to be revealed at the time of sale.
