Netflix is beginning to drop the Christmas bangers for 2021’s festive period, and the latest edition to the streaming platform Father Christmas Is Back with Yorkshire Filming Locations in York and venues in North and East Yorkshire featuring a star-studded cast.
The Cast Of Father Christmas Is Late
The new British comedy movie features comedy giants John Cleese of Monty Python and Kelsey Grammar from Frasier. Liz Hurley from the iconic Austin Powers is also in the festive film which arrived on Netflix last week. Other cast members include Nathalie Cox, Talulah Riley, Kris Marshall, Caroline Quentin, April Bowlby, Ray Fearon and Naomi Frederick.
The feel-good Christmas film was directed by Philippe Martinez and Mick Davis, and it was written by Hannah Davis Law, David Conolly and Dylanne Corcoran.
Posting on the official Facebook page, Netflix wrote: “our sisters have the shock of their life when their long-lost father turns up for Christmas in their posh Yorkshire manor. FATHER CHRISTMAS IS BACK, starring Elizabeth Hurley, John Cleese and Kelsey Grammer is now streaming on Netflix UK/IE”

Howden, East Yorkshire
Back in autumn 2020, the cast used Howden in Yorkshire as a backdrop for the film. The picturesque market town can now be seen on the big screen in this new Netflix Christmas classic. Nathalie Cox was filmed outside Atkinson Bakers in the East Yorkshire town’s Market Place this week.
Birdsall House (Dunnock House), York
Birdsall House has now is the sprawling mantsion that is called Dunnock Manor in the festive Netflix special Father Christmas is Back, starring Liz Hurley, John Cleese and Kelsey Grammer, as well as two other productions whose details are currently under wraps.
With a rich history dating back to 1540, Birdsall House was initially a small Tudor house built by the Sotheby family on what was formerly a monastery estate.
Highfield Grange Studios, Selby
A lot of the filming was done at these studios in Bubwith near Selby. The film studio based in Yorkshire, offers a bespoke studio facility for filmmaking.
York, North Yorkshire
York has a brief feature in the film with a shot of the iconic River Ouse, which is displayed twice in the film. However fleeting it sure makes it look beautiful.
