It’s that time of year again when the National Restaurant Awards are announced. The awards are voted for by an elite academy of chefs, restauranteurs and food writers, so you can expect a top-quality experience if you choose to visit one of these establishments this year.
And, this year five Yorkshire pubs, restaurants and eateries have been named in the list of the 100 top restaurants in the UK. The list is an annual countdown, and a great little tick list for foodies out there that love elevated grub. The winners were announced on Monday, June 9th at a ceremony held at The Magazine London.
The restaurants taking the top spots where The Ritz in Mayfair London in 1st place, in second was Restaurant Moor Hall, Oughton Lancashire, an in 3rds The Ledbury, Notting Hill, London. But, where did the Yorkshire restaurants rank in this year’s National Restaurant Awards?
The highest ranking Yorkshire restaurant was Joro in Sheffield which placed 43rd making it into the top 50. The Nordic-Japanese dining experience located near the edge of the Peak District in Oughtibridge having started from humble beginings in a shipping container in 2016.
Next was Myse located in the village of Hovingham brought to you by Joshua and Vicky Overington who ‘have created something truly special’. Others feature in the list are Michelin icons of Yorkshire Michael Wignall’s The Angel at Hetton and Tommy Banks’ The Black Swan at Oldstead. And, last but not least Forge at Middleton Lodge.
