Five Yorkshire Spots Named In OpenTable’s Top 100 Restaurants 2024

There are some new spots in Yorkshire to add to your bucket list, as OpenTable, the popular online reservation website, has released its annual list of the top 100 restaurants in the country, with five featured from God’s Own Country, Yorkshire.

While we take such lists with a pinch of salt, it’s always nice to understand the methodology behind them—it makes the results feel less like they’ve been plucked from the sky. The lists are compiled by analysing 900,000 diner reviews, ratings, and reservation demand, as well as the percentage of five-star reviews and other factors.

The list includes restaurants from West and North Yorkshire. Firstly, the newly opened Bavette in Leeds is highlighted. It’s described as a neighbourhood bistro filled with warmth and charm, offering a seasonal menu of classically inspired dishes. What more could you want?

Next is a Yorkshire institution: Bettys. While the focus is on the Harrogate venue, there are other locations across Yorkshire, including the popular York branch. These beautiful, historic rooms—located on the first floor of the Harrogate tea room—are steeped in history and provide the perfect setting for the most exquisite afternoon tea. Guests can enjoy a sumptuous afternoon tea in the historic Imperial Rooms while being serenaded by a pianist.

Norman’s Neighbourhood Kitchen, located on the outskirts of Huddersfield in Kirkburton, describes itself as a small but passionate team that prides itself on “taking fun seriously.” They serve small plates in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, complemented by a carefully curated wine list and a selection of craft ales and cocktails. Sounds like a place not to be missed!

A favourite in the Michelin Guide and many gastropub guides is Shibden Mill in Halifax. This 17th-century inn offers first-class dining “against an inviting backdrop of open fires, low-beamed ceilings, and a cosy bar.”

Lastly, Vivido Bar & Restaurant in Harrogate is an independent, family-run business serving authentic Italian and Mediterranean cuisine. They pride themselves on using fresh local produce to create the highest quality dishes for diners to enjoy.

Laure Bornet, Vice President of International Growth at OpenTable, commented:
“Our Top 100 Restaurant list highlights a breadth of diner favourites in the UK—from neighbourhood gems like Ciullõsteria in London to award-winning spots like Opheem in Birmingham.

“Whether Brits are looking for a spontaneous midweek meal or a festive feast, we hope diners use the list as a source of inspiration for local spots and their UK travels, this year and next.”
