Four Yorkshire Fish & Chip Shops Have Been Named In Top 40 In The UK

Each year, the National Federation of Fish Friers (NFFF) aims to seek out and celebrate the nation’s favourite fish & chip shops, and four Yorkshire fish & chip shops have been named in the top 40 shortlist for the National Fish & Chip Awards 2026.

The NFFF awards, which are seen as the Oscars for fish & chips. searches for the best fish & chip shops by looking at a range of factors, including a meticulous set of tasks, challenges and interviews covering industry awareness, product knowledge, environmental and sustainability best practices, employer responsibilities, customer service, and more.

A panel of fish and chip experts now have the thought task of assessing the shortlist of candidates for this year’s awards ensuring that quality and industry standards are met and highlighting standout chippies that quite rightly need to be celebrated.

Now, the longlist of 40 establishments vying for this year’s top prize has been unveiled. They cover every region of the UK and will eventually be narrowed down to a list of 20, then 10, before the winners are finally revealed in a ceremony in London in February.
