Four Yorkshire Spots Named In The Top 50 Most Beautiful Places in the UK

The travel site Big 7 has created a list of some of the most stunning places to visit across the UK, and four Yorkshire spots have made the list. It covers white sandy beaches, mountain tops with panoramic views, and everything in between. Featuring places all across the UK in its top 50 of the very best places in the country to visit.

The first spot from Yorkshire to feature in the list is the spa town of Knaresborough, located in North Yorkshire. Best known for its stunning viaduct that spans the River Nidd. Visitors love to hire a boat and row beneath it. Other things that the travel mag highlights are Mother Shipton’s Cave, the oldest tourist attraction, and the town’s market, which is held every Wednesday in the town centre. The North Yorkshire town came 10th in the travel magazine‘s top spots in the UK list.

Next, we head to the coast to one of our favourite spots to visit, Robin Hood’s Bay, which came in 24th place. The magazine writes: ‘A historic fishing village on the North Yorkshire Coast between the popular seaside resorts of Whitby and Scarborough, Robin Hood’s Bay is a much quieter and smaller alternative for those seeking a visit to the Yorkshire coast without the heaving crowds.’

In 27th place is one of the Yorkshire Dales most popular sites, Malham Cove. Describing the unique location, the magazine writes that it was ‘Formed along the line of the Middle Craven Fault millions of years ago, the 70 metre-high, gently curved limestone cliff is one of the main attractions in the gorgeous Yorkshire Dales’.

And the last one to feature in the list is Fountains Abbey in 36th place. The 12th-century Cistercian Monastery near the town of Ripon and accompanying 18th-century water gardens and deer park are a UNESCO World Heritage site, so it would be sacrilege now to feature them in the list.
