An Immersive Northern Lights Light Trail Is Coming To Yorkshire This Christmas

Iconic Leeds destination Temple Newsam will host West Yorkshire’s newest festive attraction: the stunning and immersive light trail, Northern Lights. Following a sellout success in Newcastle last year, the acclaimed event now makes its debut in Leeds and is expected to attract over 100,000 visitors.

Set among heritage gardens and picturesque woodlands at Temple Newsam, Northern Lights will take visitors on a jaw-dropping journey through a spectrum of illuminations and unique musical compositions. Running from November 21st to December 31st, this breathtaking festival of light will allow visitors to appreciate the already beloved surroundings of the park in a magical new light.

Visitors can expect a showcase of exclusive art installations and special effects from the UK’s leading lighting designers, along with interactive elements and festive photo moments along a 90-minute route. Approximately one mile in length, the light trail will host up to 14 distinct illuminated zones along the way. Northern Lights will be soundtracked by bespoke original compositions, elevating the event into a sensory experience like no other.

Visitors can also enjoy vintage fairground rides and a variety of festive treats, including mulled wine, hot chocolate, and toasted marshmallows. Guests will also enjoy exploring the magical Christmas Village, featuring a wide range of delicious food and drink offerings from local artisan street food vendors and bars.

The Northern Lights team is proud to be hosting two neuro-inclusive evenings at the event, offering more space for the audience with a reduced capacity by 60% and lower audio volume levels.

Roxy Robinson, Creative Director at From the Fields, said: “It’s fantastic to have the opportunity to deliver a completely new trail at such an iconic location, with so much history and heritage. We have big plans and cannot wait to deliver an experience like no other; one that welcomes everyone from all ages and backgrounds to come together. We’re proud to have an incredibly experienced and talented team of creators behind Northern Lights, who will help make this an unforgettable experience for all, while remaining as inclusive and accessible as possible.”

The people behind these lights are incredibly talented so we’re looking forward to a full transformation of Temple Newsam’s iconic grounds. It’s going to be a great one for the whole family!”
