Jane McDonald is travelling around Yorkshire in her latest Channel 5 show My Yorkshire, and in her latest instalment, she visited the most famous chippy in the whole of England, Magpie Cafe in Whitby. Situated across from the famous 199 steps and right on the harbour, it’s one of the most picturesque pales to enjoy a good ol’ classic fish & chips.
The Magpie Cafe is consistently praised for its beautiful chips and crispy-battered fish along the Yorkshire Coast. And, Jane McDonald agrees as the Yorkshire-born singer and presenter visit the North Yorkshire seaside town of Whitby.

Along with visiting the chippy, she also climbed the 199 steps and took in the spectacular sight of Whitby Abbey.
Jane described her chippy tea as “fabulous,” following that up with “Whitby fish and chips, you can’t beat it.”
Sharing her views of Whitby she said: “This is a beautiful, beautiful place. I’ve just done the 199 steps, not only do I feel I have achieved something, look at that view. It is worth every single thigh muscle just to see that and now I feel like I can eat fish and chips with no guilt.”

Last Sunday, on her tour of Yorkshire she visited Scarborough and Whitby, which are both places she used to visit as a child.
She also made a stop at the North Yorkshire moors village of Goathland where Heartbeat was filmed and met Gina the barmaid, played by Tricia Penrose.
