A-levels and Clarkson’s annual tweet have become synonymous, and this year, he’s used it to announce the opening of his new pub. Clarkson recently became the owner of The Windmill pub in Burford, Oxfordshire, which is set to open very soon.
The historic Cotswolds pub cost him less than £1 million and will open soon. Jeremy Clarkson posted on Twitter, saying: “Don’t worry if your A-level results aren’t what you were hoping for. I got a C and two Us, and here I am, 46 years later, with my own pub. It opens next weekend if you fancy dropping in.”
Last month, Clarkson shared snaps of himself trying some local wines for the new pub with his partner, Lisa Hogan, and pictured a Yorkshire local. Posting on Instagram, a Little Wolds vineyard wine bottle can be seen—just one of many vineyards in Yorkshire. The caption read: “Tasting English wines for our new pub. There are some very, very good ones.”
Little Wolds shared their love for Clarkson’s post, commenting: “Some VERY proud farmers here in East Yorkshire! Thank you @jeremyclarkson1 and Lisa for sharing 🥂 forever grateful.”
We imagine the pub will be serving Clarkson’s own beer, Hawkstone, made with produce grown on his own farm, Diddly Squat, home to Clarkson’s Farm. He will have had a very busy summer, what with the harvest and renovating a pub at the same time.
The pub aims to use only British produce, according to Clarkson, who posted on X, saying: “We are attempting to go all British for the food at my pub. But we are struggling to find black pepper grown here. Can anyone help?”
